January 11 - 18th, 2009: A FRIGID Week of Winter

I felt a bit like the abominable snowwoman after a weekend ski. It was -24 degrees out there. My hooded mop, eyebrows and chin hairs frosted up!

My legs and arms were pumpin' just to stay warm......

Brrrrr. I love winter!

They skated down the stretch at a breakneck speed with 5 seconds remaining.....

Christmas Day - Rein, Daddy, and VanaIsa played a bit of Shinny.

We have been doing a lot of skating this winter. We have managed to maintain a small rink for the kids and a skate trail has been plowed by neighbours from time to time.

Silka is now standing and shuffling along on her skates. It has become one of her favourite pastimes.

Picture this - Mom in her skates battling Rein for the puck with one hand and holding Silka's hand and leading her with the other. Yes, hard to believe, made for some tense moments, but provided much fun for all three.

Rein and his classmates put on a great performance of ......hmmm....we cannot quite remember what they sang but it was impressive.
